April 7 On April 7, the MOMS Club of Hopkinton is hosting a ladies’ BUNCO Night Out for a great cause – the Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center.  Since its founding 9 years ago, the center has grown from 1 program serving 4 families to 8 programs serving 140 families!  Please join us in supporting this extraordinary community resource.  The event will begin at 7:30 pm on April 7 at the Hopkinton Country Club.  We have a fun evening planned:  BUNCO (no experience necessary), a brief live auction, raffles and prizes, appetizers and desserts, and lots of socializing!  Tickets are $25 and space is limited; payment in advance is recommended and appreciated.  Please send a check for $25 (payable to the MOMS Club of Hopkinton) to Christine Coffman at 21 North Street, Hopkinton MA 01748.  Please call 508-497-9948 or email bunco@momsclubhopkinton.org with any questions.

 

April 7  The Hopkinton Republican Town Committee (HRTC) is holding a caucus to place candidates on the ballot for the May 2006 elections.  The caucus will take place on Friday, April 7, 2006 in the Second Floor Planning Board Hearing Room  (#211) in the Town Hall on Main Street. Republican and unenrolled voters can vote in the caucus anytime from 5 PM to 7PM.  The HRTC has several open positions for the upcoming May Town election ballot.  If you wish to run for town elected office, please contact Ken Weismantel, Chairman at 435-5725 (ken@weismantel.com) or Len Holden, Secretary at 435-3326 for more information.

 

April 8 The Hopkinton Republican Town Committee is meeting on Saturday, April 8, 2006 in the Training Room on the second floor of the Fire Station on Main Street. The meeting will start at 9:30 AM and is open to all Republican and unenrolled voters in Hopkinton. The meeting will focus on preparations for the May town election and the Republican State Convention.  If you are a registered Republican, you can become an Associate Member.  Please come to our meeting or contact our Chairman for additional information about our activities.

 

April 8,9  The Kids Choir of First Congregational Church is presenting Nic at Night, the story of Nicodemus, on Saturday, April 8 at 7 pm and Sunday, April 9 at 3 pm at the church. 50 children will present this lively, funny musical to the community through song, choreography and drama. Don't miss it! Bring the whole family. Admission is a food item (or items) for our local food pantries. April 20 On Thursday, April 20, at 1:30 PM, the Hopkinton Public Library and the Friends of the Library   will host an innovative children’s concert entitled “Peace Begins With Me – We’re Bully Free!” by Performing Arts Educator, Cheryl Melody.  This lively concert will feature interactive storytelling and original music and is designed to encourage, inspire and empower children to live with respect for others.  Suitable for children Pre-school through Grade 5, the concert is a fun way for children to learn about non-violent conflict resolution and bully-free environments, all while having a great time singing and laughing. The concert will be held in the Main Reference Room of the Library and will last approximately one hour.  Come join the festivities and help children learn some valuable life lessons.

 

April 22 Friends of Whitehall Spring Clean-up.  You can make a difference on this earth.  9:00 am - 12:30 pm @ State Boat Ramp on Wood Street (Rain of Shine).  Bring work gloves, a trash bag and a smile.  During our first two clean-ups we have removed over 9,600 pounds from the in and the around the lake!  Following the clean-up there will be memorial dedication for our beloved friend, Karl B. April 27 Gerard Gawalt, curator of presidential papers and early American History Specialist at the Library of Congress, will be visiting the Hopkinton Public Library. Mr. Gawalt attended school in Hopkinton and was a member of the First graduating class at Marian High School in Framingham.  He will be signing the library copy of his latest book “My Dear President: Letters between Presidents and their Wives.” The Library staff and the Trustees invite the public to visit the Library and meet Mr. Gawalt on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. Contact rownak@hopkinton.org for more information.

April 27 The HPTA, Hopkinton Parent Teacher Association, will be hosting a State of the Schools presentation on Thursday April 27th at the First Congregational Church of Hopkinton, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  Presentations will be made by the School Committee and the Appropriation Committee about the budget being put forth at Town Meeting, and will answer questions about the override. A Question and Answer Session will follow the presentations. The general Public is also invited to light refreshments; and children are welcome.

 

April 28 TIME: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.WHERE: First Congregational Church Fee: $10.00 - includes hamburger or hotdog hot off the grill, chips, soda! What’s there to do? Street Hockey – bring mouth guards and all other safety equipment you have, Ga Ga Pit – a big hit at the last Early Release Program!, DDR – Dance Dance Revolution!, Four Square!, Gym:  dodge ball, basketball!, Game rooms: ping pong, pool table and foosball!Café:  bring extra money for snacks!, Crafts!, Music room with sound system for "jamming"!; BRING YOUR INSTRUMENTS.  Sound system and drum set provided. 

BUS TRANSPORTATION:   Students must take the bus at 10:45 a.m. from the Middle School to the church, at no additional cost.  Parents must arrange for students to be picked up at the church at 2:00 p.m.  There are no late busses on Early Release Days.

April 29 Looking for some great deals on clothing, toys, and other miscellaneous items?  Then come to St. Paul’s Spring Rummage Sale on Saturday, April 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  You’re sure to find some great bargains on adult and children’s apparel and accessories, books, and other items for your household!  Anyone wishing to donate items to the Rummage Sale is welcome to drop off items (with the exception of computers, TVs or air conditioners) at the church between 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28.
