May 5 Dan Cloutier, a folk singer/songwriter that has opened for notable acts such as Ellis Paul, Vance Gilbert and Lou Sampou, will perform at the Enter Stage Left Coffeehouse at 8:00 p.m. on May 5. Cloutier’s songs are beautiful, relevant and full of redemption, and have been heard in musical venues such as Club Passim, Tupelo Music Hall and The Amazing Things Art Center. The ESL Coffeehouse Series takes place at Enter Stage Left Theater Workshop’s intimate studio setting at 30 Main Street in Hopkinton. Tickets are $15.00 per person.

May 5 The MetroWest YMCA Day Camp will be holding a camp Open House on Saturday May 5, 2007. The Open House runs from 10:00am-2:00pm. Prospective and enrolled parents and campers are invited to attend to receive a camp tour and take part in games and crafts. A camp video presentation will be available for view and light refreshments will also be available. The MetroWest YMCA Day Camp is located at 45 East Street in Hopkinton and offers traditional, specialty and teen programs for campers ages 3-16 on 116 beautiful wooded acres. May 6 Donations are being welcomed for an auction being held to benefit Gerald “Jerry” Higgins, a popular tennis coach in Shrewsbury who became paralyzed last Christmas as a result of a spinal abscess. The “Playing for Jerry” Benefit will be held on May 6, 2007 at the Westboro Tennis & Swim Club and will include a live auction hosted by “Matty in the Morning” Matt Siegel of KISS 108, as well as a silent auction. Current auction items include a scholarship to the Nike Tennis Camp at Amherst College, KISS 108 Concert Tickets, a Patriots helmet, and packages to resorts in Boston and New Hampshire. However, more items and services are needed. “For over 30 years Jerry contributed his time, energy and enthusiasm to many tennis organizations for both juniors and adults,” said Ellen Dorian, co-chair of the “Playing for Jerry” Committee. “It’s time for us to give back. Our goal is to help Jerry and his family deal with the adjustments and financial burdens they face during this difficult time, and give them the funds necessary to make Jerry’s life as comfortable and productive as possible.” Dorian added that funds will be used for medical equipment such as a wheelchair, handicapped van, home healthcare not covered by insurance, and accommodations to the Higgins’ home to improve his quality of life. May 6 The Metrowest Symphony Orchestra of Hopkinton and Target’s Westborough Store have announced a partnership for its 2007 Family Concert, “The Tone Poem.” The concert will take place in Hopkinton High School's beautiful Auditorium, 3PM on Sunday, May 6th, 2007, 90 Hayden Rowe Street, Hopkinton, MA. The afternoon will begin at 2:30 p.m. with an instrument “Petting Zoo.” MSO musicians will be available in the lobby to display and demonstrate their instruments to the children. Children of all ages will be able to learn about instruments of a Symphony Orchestra as well as try them out. The 3:00 pp.m. concert will feature thirteen-year-old pianist, Christopher Chan, winner of the MSO’s Young Artists Competition, sponsored by New England’s Steinway dealer, M. Steinert & Sons, Worcester, MA. The eighth grader from William Diamond Middle School, Lexington, MA will perform the first movement of Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor. The Tone Poem is a work or composition that tells a story which became popular in the Romantic Period (1825-1900.) The MSO will perform Strauss’s Don Juan, and Beethoven’s Symphony #6 “Pastoral," both of which are Tone Poems from the Romantic Period. Talented actors from Enter Stage Left will also be on hand to tell the stories of Beethoven, Strauss, and Grieg. The whole family will enjoy this event! May 7 The Pancreatic Cancer Alliance is presenting an evening of food, music, champagne, a silent auction, and decadent desserts on Monday, May 7th beginning at 6PM at Viva Bene Italian Ristorante, 144 Commercial Street in downtown Worcester . All proceeds from the event benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester . May 8 John Warren Lodge will present "What's It All About," an informative program about Masonry and other Fraternal Organizations at 7:00 p.m. on May 8th. May 19 Katrina Relief Silent Auction 6:00 pm @ First Congregational Church. The Silent Auction will raise money to help fund in rebuilding efforts. The event will include appetizers, desserts and a silent auction. There will also be a "Cabaret" performance following the Silent Auction that will highlight the talents of the teens participating in out summer mission trips. This event will be publicized within the MetroWest area and is planned as a community fundraising event. Any money raised in excess of the $18,000 will be donated directly to Canal St. Presyterian Church to be used in rebuilding efforts. May 19 The Hopkinton MOMS club will be hosting it's first ever Yard and Bake Sale on Saturday May 19th from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm on the lawn of the CAA. This is a community service project, as MOMS club members are donating household items and baked goods. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Hopkinton Police Department. We are hoping that this donation will help reinstate the car seat inspection service to the HPD. In recent years the HPD has discontinued it's free car seat inspection service due to lack of funding, and we would love to see this valuable program brought back to Hopkinton.

May 19 Hopkinton Recycling Committee will be selling Compost Bins on Hopkinton Town Common Saturday May 19, from 8 to 10 a.m. Compost bins available for $20 and kitchen pails $5 while supplies last. Composting is easy and saves our town money as it keeps food waste out of our trash. Simple instructions provided.

Annual Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic will be held this year on
Monday May 21st at The Hopkinton Country Club. Ryan Financial
Advisors, is sponsoring the event this year. We are looking forward to a
great day. The success of this event is
critical to the chamber. Each year the revenues generated by the tournament
provide funding to operate the chamber for the following year. The Board of
Directors of the chamber is asking each chamber member to contribute to the
success of the golf classic by getting as many golfers out on the course
that day as possible. Please make calls and send emails out to your contacts
to put together a foursome that can play on the 21st. We have
beautiful invitations that are almost ready to be mailed out.

May 25, 26 "Relay For Life" of
Hopkinton. It is an 18 hour event in which teams of 8
to 15 people walk around the track in order to celebrate survivors of cancer
and to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. The event itself is on
May 18 from 6 pm until May 19 at noon. There is food, beverages, and live
entertainment throughout the night. There is an informational meeting on
Thursday, February 8 at Hopkinton High School from 7-8:30 pm for anyone
interested in creating a team. Teams can be made up of family members,
friends, clubmates, sports teammates, co-workers, or any group of people. If

This is a great opportunity for our community to unite together in order to
celebrate the survivors of cancer and to raise funds to fight cancer.
