1 This year's annual "Scouting for Food" campaign takes
place Nov. 1 and 8, 2008. This annual event helps to replenish the
Hopkinton Food Pantry for the holidays and the long winter. The food drive
comes at a critical time. Project Just Because, which operates the food
pantry, reports that many more families depend on the pantry but donations
are down because of economic problems.

This entertaining and evocative workshop will highlight "strength-based" parenting that promotes positive and hope-inspiring ways of connecting and bringing out the best in our kids. Event is free, but please RSVP for seating: it_takes_a_village@comcast.net or 508-435-4701. Charlie Appelstein, M.S.W. is a nationally prominent youth care specialist and author and president of Appelstein Training Resources, LLC. Mr. Appelstein trains and consults all over the United States as well as internationally, with treatment facilities, foster care programs, parent groups, schools, and detention centers. He has authored three youth care books that are widely used within the field, including No Such Thing as a Bad Kid: Understanding and Responding to the Challenging Behavior of Troubled Children and Youth. Charlie appears twice a month on New England Cable News, providing parenting tips.
November 6 The American Cancer Society and Spirit Financial, LLC will host a planned giving seminar from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the Society's New England Division headquarters, 30 Speen Street, Framingham. Learn how making a planned gift can affect those affected by cancer no and for years to come by supporting the American Cancer Society and its programs of cancer research, education, and patient services. Featured speakers include Immaculata DeVivo, MPY, Ph.D, research scholar and member of the Society's Clinical Research, Cancer Control and Epidemiology Peer Review Committee; Rose Cain, J.D., President and Principle Financial Advisor of Spirit Financial, LLC, and Lois Hauske, a local breast cancer survivor and Society volunteer. The holiday season will be ushered in the weekend before Thanksgiving when Milford High School Theatre Workshop presents a live production of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7:30PM, with an afternoon matinee on Sunday, November 23 at 2:00. “It’s my dream to produce and direct this holiday play,” said Milford High School (MHS) Senior Emily Grill, who began work on blocking and planning the production last summer with her co-producer MHS Senior Sinai Tabak. “Even though this is our annual drama, and it’s based on the action from the movie made famous by Jim Carrey, we’ve left a little musical treat in for our audience.”
