September 6 ESL hosts Open Mic Night 7:00 pm @ ESL Studio. Featured artist: Maggie Grabmeier, ESL Hopkinton Idol winner. Hosted by Barbara Kessler. Doors open at 7:00 pm to sign up. Show starts at 7:30 pm. $5 to play or just watch and enjoy.

September 7 St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 61 Wood Street (Rte. 135) will be kicking off its fall schedule with “Welcome Back Sunday,” September 7. Church School registration will begin at 10:00. Church School classes will be offered for children ages three and up, and a Nursery will be provided for infants and toddlers. Worship will begin at 10:30 a.m., with the children joining their parents in the church at 11:15 for communion. The service will be followed by fellowship and an ice cream social. Everyone is welcome! Every Sunday at St. Paul’s is family-oriented, with Child Care, Church School and Holy Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. After every service everyone is invited to the Parish Hall for coffee hour and fellowship. September 10 Hooray for Books is hosting an Open House from 10-2:00 at 89 Hayden Rowe in Hopkinton across from the Hop HS/tennis courts. Our enrichment classes (for 1-10 year olds) teach children to read with a side of cooking and a cup of humor. We are celebrating 8 years in business. September 13 Registration is still open for Hopkinton Youth Soccers fall Kick Start program for 4 and 5 year olds. Children must be 4 years old as of Aug. 31, 2008, to participate. The Kick Start program begins Sept. 13 and is designed to introduce children to the basics of soccer. Each session will focus on the non-competitive, fun development of soccer-related skills, including balance, coordination, and foot skill / ball control.  All players must bring a size 3 ball each week; balls will be available for purchase on the first day.  No soccer experience is necessary. September 15 Hiller Athletic Night 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm @ the High School Athletic Center. This meeting is mandatory for athletes and one parent/guardian, but open to all students and parents. The presentation, co-sponsored by the Athletic Department and the beFREE! Project, will focus on good decision-making on and off the field.

September 18-21 Open to Hopkinton residents 18 years and older of all playing abilities, the Fourth Annual Hopkinton Tennis Tournament will take place at Hopkinton High School's tennis courts Thursday-Sunday, September 18-21. Divisions consist of beginner, intermediate and advanced in men's and women's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. The fee is $15 per person per event entered. September 19 CAA hosts its Opening Reception for the Annual Members Art Show & Sale @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Eligible Artwork: Members are invited to submit up to three works. All flat works must be ready to hang. Sculpture submissions must include attractive pedestals. Entrants must become Hopkinton CAA members or have a valid membership at the time of show. Membership information can be found at www.caahopkinton.org   or by calling 508 435-9222 or the event organizer, William Moser at 508 435-5773. Application Process: All Visual Arts media are allowed. Members may submit 1-3 objects for show and sale. An entrance fee of $20 per Member will be charged. A panel of artists within the Hopkinton CAA will decide which works will be accepted, and notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent within 5 days after submission. This musical is a series of stories about relationships.  An intimate, insightful tale about love, security, and happiness - and holding onto them in a world that pulls you in a hundred directions at once. September 26 Grace UMC (61 Wood Street) presents The Devil Came on Horseback, a documentary that exposes the genocide raging in Darfur, Sudan as seen through the eyes of a former U.S. marine who returns home to make the story public.  Discussion following.  All are welcome.

September 27 Hopkinton Youth Soccer Night at the Revolution 5:30 pm. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your neighbors but DON'T make the mistake of missing this event which is bound to be hailed as THE event of the fall 2008. Whether you are a huge soccer fan or not this is a great opportunity for you to get together with friends, eat some good food, visit Gillette Stadium and enjoy a great fall sporting event.
