February 7 The Cultural Arts Alliance of Hopkinton is pleased to presents a retrospective of work by Betsyann Duval from 1995 to the present.  Through four bodies of work Ms. Duval explores how myth and memory impact our sense of self.  The opening reception will be from 7 PM to 9 PM at the CAA Farmhouse at 98 Hayden Row Street. The exhibition closes on March 7, 2009 and the public is invited.

February 7 Woodville Rod & Gun Club's Annual Wild Game Feed 6:00 pm. If you have never tried wild game but, have been curious, then here is your chance. There will be many new things for the novice to try with venison, turkey, duck, striped bass, bluefish, frog legs, bruin, and boar included in this years menu. Most of the game and fish have been generously donated by club members, but the exotic items, such as frog legs, have been purchased. Bear kabobs, venison cordon bleu, venison pot pie, smoked turkey, smoked pheasant, manicotti shells stuffed with venison, ricotta and mozzarella, duck in an orange glaze sauce, pheasant cacciatore, venison tacos, boar porchetta, pizza with venison featuring wild maitake mushrooms, fried frog legs, venison meatball finger sandwiches, and other mouth watering dishes will be prepared by an army of club members. The ring leaders have been working on the menu for many weeks now and the club is know to have great cooks in their own right donating time for this event. Door prizes, raffles, slideshows of past club functions, and other entertainment will make this a night to remember. This function has been a sell out for over 15 years now. Get your tickets now to assure a seat! Donation for a ticket is only $30, a small price for the meal you will want to come back to year after year! February 11 SPEAC hosts Dr. Esposito Balboni's Mid-Year Review 7:00 pm @ Hopkinton Middle School Lecture Hall. Dr. Esposito Balboni will provide a mid-year review of special education in the Hopkinton school district. Based in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, SPEAC is made up of parents and guardians working to ensure all children with special needs are educated effectively. SPEAC believes in the worth and importance of each child’s education and strives to continually enhance the quality of Hopkinton’s special education programs. In addition to hosting workshops and education roundtables, SPEAC also annually awards scholarships to graduating students who have benefited from special education or related services and are pursuing higher education. February 16 - 20 The MetroWest YMCA Hopkinton will be holding a Vacation Club for children in grades 1-6 during the February School Vacation Week, February 16th – 20th.  The programruns from 8:30am to 6:00pm with the option of morning care starting at 7:00am. Vacation Club Participants will take part in a variety of sports, games, challenge activities and crafts, along with a field trip. February 22 The Hopkinton Historical Society’s February meeting, which starts at 2:00 pm is open to the public, and the program will include "Music of the Gaslight Era (1890-1920)" to be presented by John Root, a local musician and educator. This program features a diverse repertoire of instrumental and vocal musical styles from the turn of the previous century. The lyrics of songs from this period offer unusual insights into the customs and values of these bygone days as well as the country’s growing multicultural diversity. Music written during the Gaslight Era has created a unique musical style that continues to delight and inspire audiences around the world. Please join us for this delightful musical celebration. February 25 The Mom's Club presents "Tackling Potty Training 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm @ Ciao Time Catering. Cost $10.00 fee with a maximum of 20 attendees. Please join us at Ciao Time restaurant in the center of Hopkinton, and share an appetizer and drink with a friend while we talk about how to tackle potty training!  This event will be facilitated by Ms. Laura Bontempo, mother of six children and Parent Educator for the Milford Family Network. Ms. Bontempo’s workshop is designed to help parents look at potty training in a different light.  We will talk about developmental readiness, popular techniques and tips and tricks for helping  our child take charge. We will have the restaurant to ourselves as we listen to Ms. Bontempo’s lecture for the first 45 minutes, followed by a question and answer portion for the last 45 minutes. February 26 The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Hopkinton is holding a kickoff meeting 6:30 p.m. at Hopkinton High School Cafeteria. Relay For Life is the signature event of the American Cancer Society. It is a fun-filled, overnight event that mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate survivors (anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer), remember loved ones, and raise money for the fight against cancer. Teams of eight to 15 members will gather with tents and sleeping bags to join with more than 4,000 communities nationwide that sponsor Relays. Relay For Life brings together friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools, and churches. Teams seek sponsorship prior to the Relay, all with the goal of eliminating cancer. Come to the Hopkinton High School Cafeteria on Feb. 26th at 6:30 for desserts and pick up your Team Captain Packet. February 27 Ever wonder how much that unusual platter your Aunt Millie left you is worth? Well, here’s your chance to find out if it is a valued antique or just a sentimental keepsake. At 7:00 p.m. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Hopkinton will be hosting Antique Appraisal Night. Skinner of Boston, often featured on that popular PBS TV show, will be appraising objects for $10 per item. (No coins, stamps, jewelry or musical instruments, please.) There is a limit of 50 items per event so interested participants are encouraged to reserve their tickets early by calling Dianne Belamarich at 508-397-9487. Refreshments will be served and spectators are welcome.
