November 7 Hopkinton Community Drum Circle, Grace UMC, 61 Wood Street.  $5.00 suggested donation for adults.  There is no audience.  Everyone who comes participates by playing a hand drum or other percussion instrument.  Bring your own hand drum if you have one.  A few instruments will be provided.  No experience is necessary.  Open to all ages, but children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.  This drum circle is facilitated by Barbara Paquette of The Music Room, Whitinsville, MA.

November 7 Friends of the Hopkinton Senior Citizens will host a Craft Fair at the Senior Center on Sat., Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local crafters with a wide variety of skills will be selling their wares just in time for you to get a head start on your holiday shopping. Booths will feature stained glass, pottery, portraits, appliquéd children’s wear, jewelry, hand knit sweaters, and much more.  In addition to the beautiful crafts, the fair will feature a bake sale with goodies like your grandma used to make, hot turkey sandwiches for $4 (11:30 to 12:30) and plants grown by the Senior Center Gardening Group. The Thrift Shop will also be open.

November 10 Hopkinton Community Blood Drive with a special promotion 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm @ First Congregational Church, 146 East Main Street. All local community members who are at least 17 years of age (16 year with American Red Cross Parental Permission slip), weigh at least 110 pounds. Are in generally good health and Have not donated whole blood within the last 56 days. Donate Blood at Hopkinton Community Blood Drive.   All presenting donors receive a coupon for a Baby Blossom appetizer from Texas Roadhouse!

November 11 The 8th annual Veteran’s Day Dinner, co-sponsored by the Council on Aging and the Veteran’s Celebration Committee, will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2008 at the Hopkinton Senior Center. The dinner is for veterans only and free for all Hopkinton veterans. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. - dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. A special photo show and games are planned during the dinner. Come and hang out with your buddies; old and new. Please call the Senior Center (508-497-9730) for RSVP, additional information or to request free transportation to and from the Senior Center.

November 17 Once again, a team of students from Hopkinton's schools will be collecting Thanksgiving turkeys for the Salvation Army, continuing a tradition begun by Dan Merzel more than a decade ago. Students will be collecting the turkeys from Tuesday, Nov. 17 through Thursday, Nov. 19 at the Hopkins, Elmwood and Middle schools.  Fresh or frozen turkeys can be brought to the Hopkins School between 8 and 9 a.m. and from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.; to the Elmwood School from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; and to the Brown Gym of the middle school from 7 to 7:30 a.m. and 2 to 3 p.m. Please do not send the turkeys with children on the school buses. The turkeys will be stored in school freezers and delivered to the Salvation Army on Friday afternoon, Nov. 18.  The Salvation Army has also requested additional donations of mashed potato flakes, gravy, stuffing, boxed desserts, pies, cranberry sauce and cash to purchase additional supplies. November 18  One of our long-time teachers and a resident of Hopkinton needs a bone marrow transplant. But she must find a matching donor. She is just one of the thousands of patients that search for a matching donor every day. The National Marrow Donor Program is dedicated to creating an opportunity for all patients to receive the marrow transplant they need, when they need it. Could you be the one? November 21 This year's program will include ongoing presentations on health, wellness & prevention, informational booths, and health care screening along with a wonderful hot lunch.
