Hopkinton High School's Students Taking On Poverty club will be hosting a Safari Fun Day for kids on  from 10am-2pm in the high school cafeteria. It is for kids 4 to 11 years old and their parents, but all ages are welcome. There is a $10 entrance fee per child. There will be a bake sale, raffles, face painting, hair braiding, arts and crafts and a safari scavenger hunt.

December 3, 4 - Hopkinton Middle School auditorium, 88 Hayden Rowe St.  A cast and crew of 115 students will present Shakespeare’s classic story of love and revenge.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors and will be available in advance at the Middle School office or at the door.  Bring a new toy or new book for Project Just Because and receive $2 off the ticket price.

December 4 The Hopkinton High School Drama Department, looking to raise funds for its upcoming trip to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is offering “Star for the Day Theater Camp” for children in grades 1-5. The camp will take place on Saturday, December 4th from 10am-3pm at the Hopkinton High School auditorium and art wing. Under the direction of HHS drama department head, Valerine von Rosenvinge and the ensemble of high school drama students, children will explore theater and experience the high school stage. Children will partake in a variety of theater disciplines including acting, singing, dancing and set/costume design. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to tackle their holiday to-do list while their children are engaged in a unique one-day activity. A healthy snack will be provided, Children should bring a bag lunch and dress for some mess! Cost for the day is $25 in advance (before November 27th) and $35 after. Space is limited. December 9 From 9:00am – 10:00pm Barnes & Noble, Route 9 (Shopper’s World), Framingham will be hosting a book fair to support The Hopkinton High School Drama Ensemble’s upcoming trip to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. December 12 Enter Stage Left’s adult chorus, the Treble Makers; as well as Tone Deft, ESL’s high school/college a cappella troupe; and Tone Deft Jr., ESL’s middle school troupe; will present a Holiday Concert titled Celebrate the Season in Song at 3:00 p.m. at the United Parish of Upton, One Central Square, Upton. Tickets are $10.00 for general admission. Refreshments will be served. December 19 Do you need some comfort and fellowship during this holiday season? St. Paul’s Episcopal Church invites you to a non-denominational "Blue Christmas" service at 6:00 p.m. This is a special reflective service to acknowledge the blue in our Christmas. It will be a service of readings, music, candle lighting, and silence and will take place in the sanctuary of St. Paul’s, which is located at 61 Wood Street (Rte. 135) in Hopkinton. All are welcome. December 19 At 1:00, come join everyone  at the center for a bit of Christmas Cheer.  You’ll have a great time singing along to Christmas songs by the center’s own Senior Center Chorus as well as more holiday songs with musician John Guido.  Light refreshments will be served at this really nice Christmas get together. Please call the center to sign up.

 

December 27-31 MetroWest YMCA at Hopkinton 2010 December Vacation Club 8:30 am - 6:00 pm, for children currently in Grades K-6. Our branch site of 116 beautiful wooded acres is the perfect location to spend your school vacation week. Vacation Club bases out of our afterschool “blue room” located in our Main Office building on East St. Each day will bring different activities and adventures including those listed above. Participants must provide their own lunch daily. Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided by the YMCA. Participants must wear sneakers and come dressed for indoor and outdoor activities. If weather conditions allow, we also ask that participants bring sleds with them. We will also be taking a field trip on Wednesday 12/29 to a location TBD. Our final activity schedule for this week and field trip destination is based on final enrollment numbers. You will receive an email by 12/23 with field trip and schedule information so please make sure to provide this information on your registration form. The last day to register for this program is Wednesday December 22nd. Children do not need to be present during registration.  All documents should be filled out prior to registration time.
