The Hopkinton Community Drum Circle is open to everyone.  All ages and abilities are welcome, although children under 16 must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult (please note:  accompanying adults are expected to join in).  You don’t need to be a musician or even to have picked up a drum before.   Bring your own drum if you have one.  If not, there will be a few instruments available to use.  This drum circle will be facilitated by Barbara Paquette of Whitinsville, MA.   Barbara has a degree in music and has been playing percussion for over 40 years.   Barbara will guide the group through various rhythms.  There’s no need to register in advance.  A $5.00 donation is suggested (adults only).  Grace UMC is wheelchair accessible.

This production features 140 cast members ages 4-14, from Hopkinton, Upton, Ashland, Milford, Marlborough, Holliston, Westborough and Framingham. ESL’s Mary Scarlata Rowe wrote this adaptation of the classic children’s story, with a new musical score by Bob Nicoll. The show will feature the original short play, Pipsie the Perfect Pup, written and directed by Jodi Palmieri. Tickets are $10, and $5 for a backstage pass to the matinees. "This has been a real community production," said Kelly Grill, a co-founder of ESL. "There were so many kids that came out to audition that we needed to divide the chorus in two. Half will perform Friday and Saturday and the other half Saturday and Sunday.  In addition, the Hopkinton Senior Center ‘sewing seniors’ helped us make 107 Dalmatian costumes."

A NEW ENGLAND RELIEF EFFORT FOR ANIMALS IN HAITI - from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm All Veterinary Services at MASH be donated to the Relief of Haitian Animals. On Saturday, January 30, MASH will donate all veterinary service charges to WSPA, World Society for the Protection of Animals. Over 5 million animals in Haiti have been adversely affected by the earthquakes. Although there has been little media coverage of the plight of animals in Haiti, it is the equivalent of what happened to animals in New Orleans. This will be an opportunity for pet owners to donate to Haiti relief for animals while receiving veterinary care. Both the doctors and technicians at MASH are volunteering their time. Like many medical clinics, many veterinary clinics do not have the ability to go to Haiti and provide hands-on help. MASH hopes that other veterinary clinics will adopt similar programs and add to WSPA’s ability to provide care for the animals in Haiti and do more for animals in need. On Saturday, all medication and product costs will need to be paid to MASH but all service costs, paid by MASH clients, will be isolated as donations to the WSPA disaster fund. This creates a tax deductible opportunity for MASH clients. In a way, this is a two-fer for MASH clients, excellent veterinary service and a tax deduction. To schedule an appointment, please call 508-435-4077. MASH, Main Street Animal Services of Hopkinton, is located at 72 West Main Street in Hopkinton. MASH is a veterinary holistic care center. MASH has launched the educational program, Dr. Domore, www.drdomore.com, and the first integrative pet health exposition, IHPE, a 501c (3), www.ihpe.info. For more information, contact Margo Roman, 508-435-4077 or MRoman3@aol.com.
