May 1 If you’re seeking big bargains on clothing, toys, and other miscellaneous items, you need look no further than St. Paul’s Spring Rummage Sale on Saturday, May 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There you’ll find some great deals on adult and children’s apparel and accessories, books, and other household items! St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is located at 61 Wood Street (Rte. 135) in Hopkinton. Anyone wishing to donate items to the Rummage Sale is welcome to drop off items (with the exception of computers, TVs or air conditioners) at the church between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28 and Thursday, April 29. Donations can also be dropped off on Friday, April 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is called to be an embracing, nourishing and life-giving family in Christ. May 1 “Spring Green Up is here again” exclaimed John Mosher, chairman of the Hopkinton Sustainable Green Committee. Mosher was speaking to the members of his committee this week about plans which are shaping up for the Second Annual Hopkinton Green Up Day event on May 1st. “Last year we had over a 100 residents participate!” said Mosher. “This year we would love to see even more folks come out to beautify Hopkinton. The Spring Green Up is a popular event where friends and neighbors can connect after a long winter. Several Community groups as well as school organizations will be participating again this year. Harvey’s will be donating several dumpsters which will be placed around town. Hopkinton Sustainable Green Committee invites anyone who wants to join the effort to contact us at hopgreen@hopkinton.org We will be tracking where groups are working and offering updated information. SPRING LAKE CLEAN UP - Hopkinton’s Sustainable Green Committee  is sponsoring the 2nd annual Spring Green Up day on Saturday, May 1, 2010, 9:00am-12:00pm. Sandy Beach Parking Lot. Last years Greenup event included a dozen local organizations and over 100 residents which collected over 3 tons of trash. Please join the LMPA in cleaning up the beach area, the area surrounding your home and our neighborhood streets. Coffee and donuts will be available at 9:00am at the beach parking lot, We will order pizza around 12:00pm.The LMPA will  also provide trash bags.

May 1st & 2nd Hopkinton, MA --- The Hopkinton Middle School Drama department is proud to present OKLAHOMA the classic musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein. The talented cast and crew of over 100 students propels the audience to the Midwest during the time of farmers, cowmen and box socials. From the opening of “Oh What A Beautiful Mornin’” through an enchanting dream sequence featuring the middleschoolers as saloon girls and cowfolk, to the rousing finale featuring the favorite “Oklahoma!” the show will appeal to all ages. Audiences will swoon as Laurey and Curly, played by Catherine Cote and Kyran Schnur, deny their love for one another in “People Will Say We’re In Love.” And laugh along as Paige Guarino as Ado Annie finds that she “Cain’t Say No” to two men; her hometown sweetheart, Will played by Austin Adams, and the intriguing peddler portrayed by Adam Graubart. “This incredibly gifted cast and crew does an amazing job of embodying the spirit and sweetness of the time period” states Ms. Hallyann Gifford, Hopkinton Middle School drama teacher and Director of the show. “Their talent and personalities combined with sets designed by a dedicated crew of parent and student volunteers create a beautiful show reminiscent of days gone by.” OKLAHOMA! Runs Friday April 30 at 7pm, Saturday May 1 at 7pm and Sunday May 2 at 2pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students/seniors and can be purchased in advance at the Middle School Office or at the door the evening/day of the performance.

May 22 Westborough - Sababa (“cool” or “awesome” in Israeli slang) is an energetic, spirited singing group. Touted as a Jewish “Crosby, Stills & Nash”, they say, “We are just three great friends who love to make music together.”   

The Sababa concert will be held at Congregation B'nai Shalom, 117 East Main Street, Westborough, on May 22nd at 7PM with doors opening at 6:45PM.There will be refreshments available. May 26

On May 26th at the Hopkinton Middle School Auditorium there will be a Dana Farber benefit concert. The concert is being organized by Hopkinton High School Seniors Alex Soifer and Cam Linares and is being run entirely by students.

 

Doors open at 6:00, the concert starts at 6:30, and ends at 10:00. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Adult tickets are 1 for $10 or 2 for $15 and student tickets are $5 each. All proceeds from the concert will be donated to The Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The concert is a senior project of Alex and Cam's that was inspired by the passing of their fellow student and friend Tom Weaver. Come listen to some cool music for a cause. This special night is for the Class of 2010 and their parent (s). Dinner will be served along with music for dancing. We will also have a viewing of the much anticipated Senior Slideshow, which highlights the students throughout their Hopkinton school years.A copy of the DVD will be given to each senior as a keepsake. May 28 On Monday, May 31, 2010, Hopkinton will hold its annual Memorial Day commemorative events. At the town’s nine military veteran memorial locations, wreaths will be placed, prayers and readings will be read and echo bugle taps will be played. A parade from Mayhew Street to the town common will include boy scouts, girl scouts, brownies, cub scouts, police, fire department, veterans and others. Events at the Gazebo will include short speeches, the band and other tributes to the members of our armed forces both alive and departed. Events start at the Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville at 9:45 a.m. At 10:30 the numerous veteran memorial locations on Mayhew Street will each be honored. The parade to the Gazebo will start at 11:30 and end at noon with the traditional raising of the flag together with the singing of the National Anthem. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be held at the Saint John’s Parish Hall at 11:00 a.m. All are invited to attend and to participate.
