The summer of 2005 will be the inaugural season for a new musical organization, the Hopkinton Community Summer Band. Steve Yavarow, Director of Music for the Hopkinton Schools, will lead the group as they prepare a variety of summer selections (marches, popular tunes and light classical pieces) for a concert on July 31. The music will be geared for players with experience at the 8th grade level and above, and anyone with an interest in playing is welcome to participate. Adults are especially encouraged to join. The atmosphere will be relaxed and fun (no auditions!). There will be a small ($10) registration fee to offset some of the expenses, but otherwise the only requirement is an interest in making some music. Registration for this program is being managed by the Hopkinton Cultural Arts Alliance. Stop by the CAA building (98 Hayden Rowe Street) to register in person or download the registration form from the CAA website ( www.caahopkinton.org   ) and register by mail. Early registration is encouraged. For additional information, send an email to hcsband@comcast.net , call John Ritz (508-435-0908) or contact the CAA (info@caahopkinton.org, 508-435-9222).
