Framingham Man Arraigned On Disabled Abuse Charges

FRAMINGHAM- A Framingham man has been arraigned in connection with leaving three mentally disabled people in a hot car while he allegedly mowed his lawn, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone informed the public today.

Jon Dresser, 47, of Framingham, was arraigned on charges of permitting abuse of a disabled person (3 counts). Framingham District Court Judge Paul Healy, Jr. set bail at $500, transferred from the time of his arrest, with the conditions that he refrains from any caretaking of elder or disabled people.

His next court date is August 24 for pre-trial conference.

According to authorities, on June 5, at approximately 1:59 pm, Framingham police responded to the corner of Knight Road and Berkley Road after receiving a call reporting that a man left several disabled people in a van while he allegedly mowed his lawn.

Upon arrival, police located a van that was parked almost directly under the sun with the windows down. Police reports indict that it was hot and sunny that afternoon with the temperature of approximately 85 degrees. Inside the van, police observed three individuals who all appeared to be mentally disabled. Police also observed the defendant in the backyard putting a lawn mower into a shed. It is alleged that the defendant mowed his lawn for an hour while the victims sat in the van.

The three victims were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The defendant was arrested on scene and was transported to the Framingham police station.

These charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The Assistant District Attorney assigned to this case is Margaret Pastuszak.  The Victim Witness Advocate is Joe Bernstein.
