IT ALL STARTS HERE! POSTER CONTEST

 

 

All Hopkinton residents in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade will be invited to take part in the poster contest, following the theme "It All Starts Here!" for a chance to:

  • Promote Hopkinton and its athletic spirit

  • Present artwork for public display and recognition

  • Receive savings bond award

  • Highlight Hopkinton’s historic ties with the BAA Boston Marathon

 

CONTEST RULES

 

  • All entries should be original artwork, created by a student in grades K-12 who lives in Hopkinton

  • Posters must be no smaller than 8 1/2"x11" and no larger than 14"x18"

  • Entries may be done in marker, crayon, watercolor, ink, acrylic, colored pencil and/or tempura paint. Middle and high school students may choose a separate computer-generated art category. Please do not glue or tape anything onto the poster

  • Entries should be done on paper that allows for duplication, display and mounting

  • All entries should relate to the theme "It All Starts Here!"

  • Entries should be signed with first and last name in the front, lower right corner

  • Entries may be dropped off in any of the main offices of the Hopkinton Public Schools or at Century 21 Westward Homes, 76 Main Street, and the Selectmen’s Office in Hopkinton Town Hall

  • All submissions will become the property of the Hopkinton Athletic Association.

 

 

TIMELINES & NOTES

 

Please submit all entries by Monday, April 4, 2005. EXTENDED to April 6, 2005

 

Posters will be judged by a panel of local artists, local officials, and program sponsors.

 

Prize winners will be notified and announced on Monday, April 11.

 

All posters will be displayed during Patriots Day weekend (April 15-18) in local businesses and at marathon-related activities for thousands of people from around the world to see.

CONTEST FACTS

 

Hopkinton Poster Contest is sponsored by Century 21 Westward Homes in conjunction with the Hopkinton Athletic Association, Hopkinton Cultural Arts Alliance, Hopkinton Marathon Committee, and the Boston Athletic Association.

 

Posters will be created by Hopkinton students in grades K-12.

 

Posters will promote the Town of Hopkinton and its athletic spirit as well as its historic tie to the Boston Marathon using the theme "It All Starts Here"

.

Posters will be displayed in Main Street businesses and at marathon-related activities during Patriots Day weekend, giving sponsors and artists exposure to area residents as well as thousands of people from around the country and the world. Award-winning posters will be mounted and displayed on the Hopkinton Common on race weekend and later at the Hopkinton Cultural Arts Alliance.

 

Posters will be judged by a local panel of artists and art aficionados, including Hopkinton High School graduate Dustin Neece, who won the Pinnacle Award at the National Scholastic Art Awards 2001 and now studies at Rhode Island School of Design.
