HPTA 24th ANNUAL SILENT AUCTION Silent Auction • Live Auction • Raffles $1.7 million so far, and still counting
This year’s Silent Auction team has solicited a dazzling array of fabulous items up for bid. The Committee, chaired by Shari Murphy and supported by a group of dedicated volunteers, has been very busy ensuring that the Auction will be another rewarding experience for patrons. Items include: weekend getaways to Vermont, New Hampshire, and the Cape; tickets to sports games; dinner prepared by a personal chef; golf outings, ski tickets; sports memorabilia; i-pods; electronics; jewelry; wine; and much more. The annual favorite Children’s Gallery raffle baskets are back again featuring a wide array of themes – science; backyard fun; arts and crafts; beach; reading; game night; and many more. Other raffles include a quilt signed by the entire first grade; a t-shirt quilt made from official Marathon t-shirts donated by the HAA; Police Chief, Fire Chief, or Principal for a day; and the Ice Cream Stroll with your favorite kindergarten teacher.
The HPTA is also proud to offer a new item in the Live Auction this year. The Goncalves family has donated a week-long timeshare in the Berkshires, which can be used at any point during this calendar year. All of the proceeds from this Live Auction item will be donated to the Andrea and Joshua Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was created in memory of the Goncalves children who died tragically in a car accident last year. The mission of the HPTA is to support the enrichment and betterment of the Hopkinton Public Schools through direct service volunteer work, advocacy, and financial donations. The HPTA also provides a forum and a network for communication between parents, teachers, administrators, and the community. To keep pace with the rapid growth in the school system, the HPTA has contributed thousands of volunteer hours and millions of dollars to the Hopkinton Public Schools. Since it’s inception in 1993, HPTA has budgeted over $1.7 million dollars, all of which has gone to benefit the entire school community. The HPTA is honored by the tremendous community support for the annual Silent Auction. From the students, staff, and administrators who make and contribute items, to the many town departments that offer a fun ‘boss for the day’ raffle for the children, and the numerous local individuals, businesses, and artisans that donate time, items, or money, the Silent Auction represents a true community effort and celebration. The HPTA is particularly pleased to thank the following friends who have helped to underwrite the costs of the Auction: Paul M. Phipps Insurance Agency Inc., Hopkinton Drug, Inc., ReMax Executive Realty, E.L. Harvey and Sons, Inc., The Milford National, MicroNet Associates, Scott Septic, Inc., and Joyce Plumbing and Heating. |
